The inspection council announces that it will monitor the situation with the prices of food products after the termination of the validity of the measure for guaranteed prices, but from there they say that a little should be left to the conscience of the producers and traders who should be in the service of the citizens.

– We have witnessed that the State Market Inspectorate was active in the field in the past period, and the citizens could feel this best because they constantly controlled the guaranteed prices.

Now let’s leave a little to the conscience of the subjects of supervision, i.e. producers and traders.
We are awaiting the adoption of a systemic solution to the Law on Prohibition of Unfair Trade Practices, especially in the trade of agricultural and food products.

Of course, the inspectors from the Market Inspectorate will continue to vigilantly monitor the situation on the ground and we hope that the subjects of supervision, that is, the markets, will be in the service of the citizens, said today the president of the Inspection Council, Daniela Rendevska.

The guaranteed price measure for some food products, such as bread, milk, yogurt, pasta, some meat products, as well as for soft drinks and beer, will not apply from tomorrow. The term of the government decision which reduced the import duties for vegetables is also expiring.

The authorities announce strengthened controls to intervene in the event of a drastic increase in the price of products, given that the law on unfair trade practices, which is expected to amortize the situation, has not yet been passed.

The Vice Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Fatmir Bitici, said yesterday that any unethical behavior of any merchant will be punished.
He urged the Commission for the Protection of Competitiveness and the Organization for Consumer Protection to react. vg/bak/Photo: Printscreen.
